Q&A: Is This A Part Played InThe Dating “Game”?

Question by ♥beau♥: Is This A Part Played InThe Dating “Game”?
I just want to know, why is that everytime I ask how to get over a crush (Im a woman) that I never get an answer, from the guys?
So now Im asking kindly can someone give me advice on how to move on? Ive been crushing on this one for months, he has spoken and flirted with me but never asked for my phone number…
so I want to forget him too.
Im like this…
I dont like clubs, I dont like any replacement crush (when I like some1, actually like them), I dont have many friends, Im trying to be friends with one guy in my class (he’s very shy, I think he’d be a cool friend), Im quiet, shy, not outgoing and its not in my personality to be. I only want a good group of friends I can chill with a lot and trust
(Im saying all this so just GOING OUT is not going to help, cause Im not in the position to GET OUT)
So any advice on how to change my thinking or something…:/
my crush is very outgoing, the guy my class is not…

Is this part of the “game”?

Question by yed s: Is this part of the “game”?
I met this girl through mutual friends and we had all gone out for drinks as a group on a number of occasions. I finally asked her out and she agreed. We decided to go out on the Friday and we talked on Monday on the phone. I called on Thursday evening and left a message. She never returns my call. So I call her up after work on Friday around 6pm and leave another message. She calls me back around 6:30pm and said that she never got the first message on her phone. She proceeds to ask me if we can go out some other time since she has a ton of things to do for her cousins wedding the next day. I called her again on Sunday and again left a message, she returned my call on the Tuesday. We finally go out on the Friday and I’m pretty sure things went we’ll.
Now the thing is that I feel that I’m the one making all of the effort. I’m the only one calling and she only calls to returned my missed calls. Is she playing “the game”?

Question by GamerChick: What do you think of my story so far part 1?
THIS IS PART 1 SINCE I WROTE MORE THEN 5000…xD (btw im only 11 so srry if i misspelled..)

Glitter Salon

At 7:00 am Jamie Ruth got up ready to start her new day of school.
She got up from her bed and went to the bathroom. She grabed the red come and started to brush her hair. She grabed a blue ribbon and put in right her hair. She grabed her toothbrush and her toothpaste and begin to brush her teeth. She ran to her bedroom and went in her closet. She wanted to wear something classy. She got out her red and black tee. Nah, she thought in her mind. She got out a blue plaid shirt. She was going to wear this. She got out her old blue jeans. She put them on and looked at her self with the miror. She was missing something. She looked at the end table near her bed. She really needed makeup. Then she nodiced some eyeliner next to the miror. She grabed it and put it on.

She ran down stairs. She saw her mom there in her flower dress.
Eww…what an ugly dress she thought in her mind. While walking to the kitchen she almost triped on her dog. Diggy. Diggy was a mixed bread but she thinks it looks like a Golden Retriver. She saw her two brothes and her one sister. She sat down at the kitchen table. They all stared at her. “What?” She said. They all looked at echother than said ” We come in peace!!” They all lauged out loud. She rolled her eyes and went to the counter and got her phone. She just got a new messege. It read ” Hey get ready 4 school!!” It was her friend Amy. Amy and Jamie met in 3rd grade so they knew they would be best friends for ever. She was also funny. She had red hair and green eyes.

Of course Jamie had black hair and blue eyes. But that didn’t matter at all. She had to get to school in 30 minutes. She grabed a bowl and got Frosted Flakes. She poured milk in the bowl and she sat down at the table. Everyone was eating. When it was 8:12 all of her brothers and sisters got up and got there backpacks and went to school. But for Jamie she grabbed her iPhone and ran out the door at 8:24.

It was the first day of high school. She was only 15. And luckly she did catch a late bus. When she reached Broodvick High School she got out of the bus. She looked at her watch. It was 8:29. She ran to the doors. No one was in the hallways. She tip-toed to her classroom. She opened the door not trying to make any attetion. And when she opened it everyone looked up. She started to get nervos. Her new teacher did not look happy at all.

Amy looked shocked. Everyone contied to stare. Her teatcher said ” You are late.” She looked nice for a while than she said to go get a tarty slip. But she looked at the clock. It was 8:30. Could she have cut her some slack? She wanernd the hall untill she found the office. She whisperd to the lady ” I need a tardy slip…” She tore a piece of tarty slip but then she looked at the clock. She said ” I’ll let you go on this one.”
She smiled at her and walked to her class.

She opend the door to her class room.
No one looked up. Jamie went to a empty desk and sat down. She looked on the bored. She was writing her name. Mrs. Polisk. Everyone smiled. Jamie did a shy smile. “Well to begin the day we will do this little game.” Mrs. Polisk said. She handed out papers to everyone.

It was a puzzle game! She loved puzzles. But the bell rang. “Take these home.” Mrs. Polisk said. After 4 classes the day was over. Amy and I were going to hang out somewhere. She didn’t say what it was but Jamie knew she smelled girly. They finaly got there. It looked aboanod. Amy ran in the building. Jamie ran with her. We got inside. This place did not look girly at all. Pool table?! Hot Wheels?! This place was perfect!

Amy went around the room. She calmy said ” It usest to be a salon called Gliter Salon.” “I knew this place was girly relatied!!” I said. “Hey a computer!” I yelled. “Welcome To Gliter Salon.” The computer said through the speakers. “COOL!!” Amy said. Wow this place was a nice hangout Jamie thought. “Look they have the inernet!!” Amy said. I quickly tyeped Chat.com. A place for friends.

She signed in, 31 friends were online! “Hey Jamie, your crush is online!!” Amy taunted. “Shut up! We are just friends!” Jamie yelled with a smirk. She thought about Ryan. He had black hair and brown eyes. She liked him but she knew that she wasn’t his type.
“Send him a messege. You know want to!” Amy said.

“OK…” Jamie said. Jamie clicked on Ryan’s page then went to send messege. Hmm. Jamie thought. ” I KNOW!!” Amy said while bumping Jamie off the chair. ” Turn around!” Amy said. Jamie heard Amy typing, but then Jamie peeked and saw Amy typing, “Hi sweetie!”

Whisper sat on the floor studying the game board in front of her. Shadow had gotten good at chess, and Whisper was now positive that Shadow would win. With one last thought she moved her last piece. Bad choice.
“Checkmate!!!” shadow cried out happily.
“That’s the third time!!” Whisper complained. Suddenly the phone rang and she jumped a little at the piercing noise.
“Sheesh that’s a loud phone!” Whisper quickly answered it before she went deaf.
After a minute, she set the phone down, a big smile spread across her face.
“Come on Shadow! Were going to the hospital!”
“W-What? Why?” He stuttered as Whisper heaved him up into his wheel-chair.
“You’ll see!” Whisper grabbed her jacket and flicked off the lights. Soon they were in the car.
“You still haven’t told me why were going to the hospital!’ Shadow called from the backseat.
“Oh yeah, well for some reason (Who knows what happened) Siolas and Zodiac are completely healed!!!! No broken bones, no nothing!!!”
“What!?” Shadow gasped, bug eyed, “How on earth did that happen!!!”
“I don’t know!” Whisper steered to left and Shadow almost flipped over.
” Whoa! Slow down lady!!!”

It’s very…intresting. It could be good if they were just genius cats, instead of genius cats that could drive and put on clothes. I can say I would like it much more if it were like that, becuse I’m getting a furry vibe from the whole talking on the phone and going to the hospital thing. If you change it to were they are genius cats with owners that don’t know their genius’ I would like it a bit more. Work on it and it will become a good story:)

ColecoVision To iPhone Games – Part 16

In this ongoing look at significant moments in the history of video game design, we have already taken a look at Bungie’s Halo & Halo 2, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, Nintendo’s Metroid and several others. The goal of this series is to go beyond simple gaming magazines and iPhone Apps reviews, and take a closer look at what defines memorability and quality in game design. In this sixteenth part of the series we will examine some more of those classic moments where video game designers undoubtedly got it right and delivered a memorable, enduring and progressive gaming experience.

– This light-gun, laserdisc based arcade hit from the early 1990s was progressive in many ways. Interestingly, it was one of the very first arcade titles to charge a full dollar to play. In an era where even fifty cent games were a rarity, Mad Dog McCree was certainly testing the financial limits of the typical arcade gamer. That aggressive pricing strategy was, however, more than merited due to the unique experience the game provided. Arcades across the world had never seen a game like MDM before, as the characters and settings in the game were made up of real people in actual locations. Taking place in the Old West, MDM put the player in the shoes of an unnamed cowboy – The Stranger – on a classic mission to save the damsel in distress.

]]>

MDM begins with an instructive tutorial, to give the player a sense of the style of game play that awaits them and a chance to master the games reloading maneuver. As the story unfolds, the player must successfully complete various shootouts and gunfights in order to proceed. The only interface the player has with the game is through a handgun, which serves to heighten the immersion factor immensely. All decisions in the game are integrated so as to allow for the choices to be seamlessly made with the handgun, and movement through levels is taken out of the player’s hands to ensure that all they need focus on is gunning down the bad guys. This process was made all the more arduous depending on the particular difficulty setting of the game. While most arcade locations were set at a more forgiving level, some less merciful arcade managers saw fit to crank up the difficulty levels and force the players to truly channel their inner gunfighter.

MDM deserves a spot in this pantheon of progressive video games because it was one of the very first titles to prove that video games need not strictly reside in the world of pixels. If the laserdisc had not allowed for such quick seek times, the game simply would not have worked. Instead it reacts almost instantly to player input and creates a rewarding, nearly real-time interactive experience. Arcade players the world over were stunned at this technical accomplishment, and the game’s staggering financial take only cements this notion.

MDM deserves praise because it absolutely defines the term ‘progressive.’ The game was the polar opposite of just about every arcade game of the time, yet still managed to deliver a quality gaming experience. For pushing the envelope into an entirely new universe, forever changing what people expected of video games and, perhaps most importantly, bringing new types of players to the video gaming space, MDM deserves its place in this series and among the all-time greats.

ColecoVision to iPhone Games Part 20

In this ongoing look at significant moments in the history of video game design, we have already taken a look at Bungie’s Halo & Halo 2, Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series, Nintendo’s Metroid and several others. The goal of this series is to go beyond simple gaming magazines and iPhone Apps reviews, and take a closer look at what defines memorability and quality in game design. In this twentieth part of the series we will examine some more of those classic moments where video game designers undoubtedly got it right and delivered a memorable, enduring and progressive gaming experience.

– Developed by DMA Design (now Rockstar Games) and released in 2001, Grand Theft Auto 3 (GTA3) is one of the most controversial, successful and excellent videogames of all time. Its two predecessors, GTA1 and GTA2, were successful top down games that explored the same themes as GTA3, but from a more limiting 2D perspective. As the game moved into 3D and new gameplay opportunities became available, new groups of consumers began to take notice. Upon its release, GTA3 was given universally positive reviews and began to not only fly off store shelves, but see sale prices on internet auction sites that doubled and even tripled its retail value. The game became an overnight sensation and an absolute must own for videogame players across the world.

]]>

Of course, with this success came some (success fueling) controversy. Many religious, family and conservative groups came out against the game and its unprecedented levels of violence. Considering that the game allowed the player to be intimate with a prostitute, stab and shoot innocent people in the street, carjack police officers and run down old ladies, the controversy seems well deserved. However, the game never demands these actions of the player. Instead it sets them loose in a real world environment and allows them to complete their missions in any manner they choose. While violent acts are certainly a requisite part of the game, senseless and excessively brutal acts of violence are not. Despite the controversy, the game is one of the most beloved and respected of all time, and the incredible level of freedom it allows for will be the focus of this entry in our ongoing series.

In examining the landscape of videogames of 2001, a few notable titles stand above the crowd. Microsoft’s Halo was one of the most successful titles of that year. The game was a first-person shooter which, despite offering some tactical freedom, was a pretty linear affair. Serious Sam, a shooter for the PC which would go on to snap up many game of the year awards, was also very linear and allowed for little exploration. Metal Gear Solid 2, another all time classic, also released in 2001, and though it is a fantastic game, it offered very little in the way of freedom or exploration. GTA3 was just so very different from the games of its day that it demanded notice and, to the delight of all who played it, absolutely over delivered on quality.

The absolute brilliance of GTA3 lies in the fact that the player could sit down with GTA3, day after day, and have endless amounts of fun – all without ever engaging in the storyline or making any actual progress. Epic police chases, side missions playing as a fireman or police officer, stealing cars, amassing large amounts of cash, searching for jumps to launch cars and motorcycles, searching for hidden items and simple exploration are aspects of the game could have made up a high quality stand alone title based solely on their own merits. When added to the game’s riveting storyline, they were the ingredients that made this game the successful soup it became.

For its unprecedented freedom, astoundingly expansive game world, unparalleled gameplay options and nearly limitless ways to extract visceral excitement and pure fun, GTA3 is one of the greatest video games of all time and absolutely demands its place in this series.

ColecoVision to iPhone Games ? Part 22

In this twenty second part of the series we will examine some more of those classic moments where video game designers undoubtedly got it right and delivered a memorable, enduring and progressive gaming experience.

Soldier of Fortune 2 (PC) – Developed by Raven Software and released on the PC in 2002, Soldier of Fortune 2 (SOF2) quickly became a favorite of hardcore first person shooter fans. Running very well on the Quake III engine, SOF2, on the surface, seems to be a pretty typical game. The main character is a mercenary named John Mullins who is tasked with stopping a germ warfare attack on the United States. He accomplishes this by single handedly taking on armies of men with all manner of machine gun, pistol, rifle, shotgun, grenade and throwing knife that he can get his hands on. Battles in SOF2 can be very intense, as enemies can be numerous, aggressive and accurate with their shots. The storyline is about what you would expect from a first person shooter and there are no serious technical issues present in the game. All in all, it is an above average first person shooter with few memorable aspects. However, one of those aspects is not only memorable, it is progressive, daring and, unfortunately, lacking in many of today’s modern games. That aspect of the game is the realism of combat, and it makes up the focus of this entry in our series.

]]>

In playing a modern first person shooter from the current generation, we see fairly typical death animations from fallen characters. Take the latest Halo game, for example. In playing a game of Halo the Master Chief is given some fairly heavy weaponry. The shotgun, Spartan Laser and rocket launcher are some of the more potent weapons available to the Chief, and he uses them often throughout his journey. Players think little of rounding a corner only to run right into an enemy Grunt, because one blast to the chest from a shotgun sends the Grunt on a one way trip to the afterlife. What bothers many players is that the point blank shotgun blast to the bare chest of that tiny alien produces a small amount of blood and an otherwise untarnished torso. Where are the effects of that mighty weapon? Where is the tangible damage? The answer, unfortunately, is nowhere. Game makers of today seem to have an unwritten agreement that they will not show the impact of these powerful weapons, even when the game world is otherwise full of realism. Beyond a couple of shining yet rare examples (Fallout 3, the GTA games), this agreement remains intact. However, eight years ago SOF2 shocked gamers the world over by introducing realism to its game world.

In SOF2, the weapons do damage. Now, we are not talking about producing clouds or specks of blood on an enemy’s chest, or triggering a death animation, we are talking about realistic damage. If you shoot an enemy in the leg with a shotgun in SOF2, that enemies leg will cease to exist, and the one legged enemy will scream in pain as he falls down and tries to shoot you back while writhing in his pain filled rage. The visceral feedback and reward the player feels when their heavy weapon attack results in mutilated enemies may have been a bit too violent for some, but the level of immersion it offers cannot be underestimated. SOF2 was an adult game, made by adults, for adults. It is for this reason that the level of violence is perfectly acceptable. Video game makers often talk of how they struggle to make their game align with the real world, yet they so often take players out of the experience by making the violence such a disconnected and artificial experience.

The developers at RavenSoft had the courage to make the violence in SOF2 more realistic than any game had up to that point – and very few have since. What’s more is that they did not rely on that violence to hold up their game, but rather used it to better immerse the player in a game world, give the character and his struggle some true weight and tension and show a side of war that too many games choose to ignore. For these reasons, SOF2 deserves its place alongside some of the most memorable and progressive games of all time.

IPhone games : another important part of iPhone apps dynasty

Steve Jobs has stepped down as Apple’s CEO as we know from hundreds of articles published on web, newspaper reports and TV news. But before leaving Apple, he was successful in creating a real tech giant. Whatever gadget his company has made according to his brilliant planning that has driven consumers to go crazy. Take iPhone for example. Not only we saw the craze among consumers when it was launched, but later the gadget expanded its brand through the large market for its apps. Today’s Apps Store is a huge centre for reading reviews and downloading your favorite iPhone apps.

Young and teenager iPhone users love to download iPhone games. It is the creative and genius iPhone apps makers for whom the iPhone gaming has got everybody’s attention. It is touch to choose the most popular and funny iPhone games as there are so many of them. Still, I give you 5 iPhone apps (along with their reviews) to make your own gaming choices while you download your gaming apps from Apps Store. For more gaming reviews you can certainly visit website of iPhoneTemple.com .

Harry Potter surely has more spellbound magic left to be unleashed. At least, the gaming app on iPhone, ‘Harry Potter: Spells’ can tell you so. And you can show some of skills as a wizard in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry through this app. You need to find the magic wand and then different hand gestures for 20 spells ( 17 more spells for premium versions ) before playing the game finally.

]]>

Once you have mastered all the spells, you can practice all the skills or engage yourself for a hard-fought duel with opponents (say, players). The application is simply a nice one to use not only because of Harry Potter but because of the excellent interface and spells it offers.

Scrabble is one of the biggest word-making game that is catching the interest of iPhone users. If you are addictive to forming words with letters and intelligently form several words from same character set, then scrabble is the game for you. This is the best app that helps you to play 50 games at once. You can play the game up to 4 players. The game has a learning section and certainly this is the best option for your Word perfection.

This Hockey game by FlipSide 5 has a very simple interface and relates to one of the very simple way of game play : put the ‘plate’ on target : that is on opponent’s goal post. This is a multiplayer game where you and your opponent will try to score goals on each other.

The game may have similar functionality with many other interfaces, but it will surely keep you busy to pass your idle time.

This app is the WWDC 2011 Apple Design Award Winner. Meet Om Nom, the funny character of the game. And get to know another scientist (i.e. the player). The game is all about cutting the rope, releasing candy and deliver the released candy to Om Nom. There are 75 levels across 3 different colorful settings that you can use for pleasant look. The scientist or professor receives one new photo to add to his album as he completes a game’s level.

The game is really cool, lovable and exciting. It is time to engage yourself with some rope cutting activities.

Zen Bound is the aesthetically designed game of wrapping the rope on beautiful wooden sculptures. The game has a multi-touch feature and has a unique soundtrack of ‘Ghost Monkey’ behind it. The game has 76 levels of wonderful experience of wrapping 3D models of stone and wood–blocks, whales, birds. Zen Bound is a totally different game to play altogether.

So, here are 5 different games waiting for you to play. As the top of charts list changes frequently, I would like to come up with a new set of iPhone games for your pleasure. If you want to stay updated about new apps releases, iPhoneTemple.com can be a good site to visit. Read the apps reviews and be your own judge to download game apps.

The Mechanism of iPhone Apps Development and iPhone Game Development – Part 2

As mentioned in part1, this article will cover more technical side of the iPhone Apps Development and iPhone Game Development on the perspective of tools used and differences between the two. iPhone Apps Development as mentioned before is done via base SDK which mostly uses the features provided in the SDK by Apple and does not need and use of third party API or services. You need to be very careful while developing with using any third party APIs as Apple has very strict guideline for the same and apps made with such carelessness are eligible for Apple’s rejection.

iPhone Game Development on the other hand is different story. Mostly depends on the type of games and complexity of the games to be developed and yes, most important the type of graphics you need to use, means 2D or 3D. iPhone Game Development cannot be totally done using the base iOS SDK provided by Apple, but fortunately there are some tools available and Apple does allow you to build your game in it. Most famous of them are Cocos 2D and For 3D it is Unity 3D and with recent launch of Cocos3D it will be going to be some really good days for iPhone Game Developers, as Cocos 2D and 3D are free, unlike Unity 3D for which you need to buy license.

As mentioned earlier iPhone Apps Development been done in base SDK and via iOS simulator you can check your apps as the same way it is going to look and behave on the device you are making for it. There are simulators provided for different version of iOS and of course of devices iPhone and iPad separately. There is also very good debugging made available for developers and testers. Though iPhone Game Development is done sometimes separately from the base SDK, there is always an option available to port it and test.
