My ex of 4 years has been dating someone new (I broke up with him end of Jan) and when he hangs out with me he sends mixed messages (I want to be with you) (I want you to f”’ off). It’s been torture. So last night I called and asked “Do you want to be with me?” and he wouldn’t answer. He said ‘maybe,’ which wasn’t good enough. So I said if you can’t give me that grace, I have to end our communication. He said “I’ll talk to you tomorrow” and I said no, tonight. I couldn’t take another night ‘in wait.’ He said his new gf was there and he couldn’t say goodbye tonight. So I said “fine, guess it’s over the phone.” He said “I’ll call you tomorrow” and I said “fine, but I’m not answering. This is it. Goodbye, I love you.” He said “goodbye, i’ll talk to you tomorrow.”
Now I realize that I still want to be his friend. Just his friend. Do I answer his call today? At the risk of sounding like a flake or appearing to play mind-games with him? What do I do?

answer it’s just4 the good of it. If u want 2 just stay friends then i think hell understand.

Stop it! Why are you letting him treat you like this? Are you so lonely and desperate that you have to settle for scraps of time and affection that he throws you like a person might throw scraps of food to a dog?
Don’t take the call! All he’s going to do is play with your feelings and you’re going to feel bad. Don’t even try to be his friend. If you have kids together, you have to be civil for their sake but if you don’t have kids by him then CUT HIM OFF COMPLETELY!! I was in one of these “he wants, he doesn’t want me” kind of sick, twisted relationships and tried to be “just his friend” but he abused it by giving me the mixed signals that kept me in suspense, wondering if we’d get back together or not.
It was TORTURE until I realized that I’d given him all this power over my heart and gotten NOTHING in return.
Kick him to the curb, friend, you deserve better!!!!!
